In addition to helping you obtain hard-to-find or obsolete components, Components International is also uniquely qualified to help guarantee the quality of the parts and service you receive.

ISO9001:2000 ISO 9001 is the most stringent of all ISO standards, assuring quality products and services are delivered to all customers. In a world with increasing prevalence of unqualified or substandard electronic components, Components International’s ISO 9001:2000 certification verifies that established processes are in place and assures the quality of our components and services - a verification the vast majority of suppliers in our industry cannot offer. To become certified and maintain certification, Components International must continuously demonstrate to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) improvements in our capability to supply quality products through both documentation and practice.

U.S. Government Contract Advantages For OEMs and CEMs bidding or working on U.S. defense contracts – particularly in the military and aerospace markets – Components International can offer advantages beyond hard-to-find parts and the quality associated with ISO certification. In addition to a general reduction in your BOM through affordable parts, Components International holds a number of certifications that can offer added fulfillment of your diversity goals through partnership with an 8(a), SDB and HUBZone certified distributor. These certifications are rarely found in conjunction with ISO 9001:2000 certification, eliminating the common perception that SDB certifications often lead to “disadvantaged” products and services.

8(a) BD (Minority) The Small Business Association’s 8(a) BD is a business development program aimed at assisting small, disadvantaged businesses access the federal procurement market and compete in the American economy. To qualify for 8(a) BD certification, a small business must be unconditionally owned and controlled by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who are of good character and citizens of the United States. The business must also demonstrate potential for success. As the first distri butor to introduce the concept of Universal Distribution, Components International adds even more importance and value to the process by providing hi-rel services, including COTS screening, up-screening and product re-certifications, technical assistance and engineering support, incoming inspection, kitting, bonded inventory, e-commerce, warehousing and worldwide JIT delivery

Very uncommon in the component distribution market, 8(a) certification is particularly relevant to any project that is a part of a federal contract. Strengthening the advantage of 8(a) certification in the distribution network, brokers are not eligible. A broker “adds no material value to an item supplied to a procuring activity, does not take ownership or possession, and does not handle the item procured with its own equipment or facilities,” according to the SBA.

SDB While the 8(a) Program offers a broad scope of assistance to socially and economically disadvantaged firms, SDB (Small Disadvantaged Business) certification strictly pertains to benefits in federal procurement. SBA certifies small businesses that meet specific social, economic, ownership and control eligibility criteria. Contracting officers and large business prime contractors have access to an on-line registry of qualified, potential suppliers.

MBDA The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. MBDA is the only federal agency created specifically to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned businesses in America. The Agency actively promotes the growth and competitiveness of large, medium and small minority business enterprises (MBEs). MBDA actively coordinates and leverages public and private-sector resources that facilitate strategic alliances in support of its mission.

HUBZone The HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) Empowerment Contracting Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing Federal contracting preferences to small business. Components International’s corporate headquarters are located in a section of New York City, N.Y., that meets HUBZone certification criteria. The company also employs a large percentage of its employees from the area. HUBZone companies are also listed online. Click here to see the list.
